EQDG is hosting our 2nd annual Tea Dance on October 11 at Skeleton Key Brewery in Woodridge, IL!
Gay Tea Dances originated in the 1950s and 1960s primarily on Fire Island as a Sunday afternoon social alternative for the LGBTQ+ community, designed to avoid anti-gay liquor laws and police raids. By serving tea, no laws were broken. In homage to our brave ancestors, we gather to dance and celebrate.
This year's Tea Dance, celebrated on National Coming Out Day, is free to attend but we are collecting RSVPs. Tacos Las Manitas will be selling food, and decorative Pride cookies will also be available for purchase. Sound Sonic Entertainment will be spinning the tunes as we dance the night away.
