Everyday Advocacy Workshop

November 14, 2024​

Our education committee led an advocacy workshop to a packed audience! Participants learned how to become effective advocates for oppressed groups, especially the LGBTQ+ community. The workshop explored past advocacy efforts to show that every action, big or small, makes a difference, and participants were prepared for the emotional challenges of speaking up for others.

Supporting LGTBQ+ Youth Through Traumatic Experiences

October 12, 2023​

EQuality Downers Grove, in partnership with the Downers Grove Public Library, presented this program which empowered allies and supporters to identify and respond to trauma-inducing actions/behaviors that affect LGBTQ+ youth.  The workshop was led by Dr. Jordan Cart (Licensed Clinical Psychologist – Lodestone Center for Behavioral Health, Adjunct Professor, Benedictine University) and Nancy Mullen (Executive Director, Youth Outlook, Author, Urban Tidepool).

DG PrideFest 2024

June 08, 2024​

EQDG hosted a community-wide Pride celebration at Fishel Park, where we had kids food, music, kids activities, a costume parade, and the support of many local community groups and businesses.

EQDG and First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove held a family-friendly celebration of Pride in Fishel Park and the First United Methodist Church parking lot.
